This year marks our 40th anniversary (30th January 1982-2022) and we plan to celebrate in style with a ‘gala’ event on the 10th & 11th September. It shall be an event not to be missed and certainly a first in many ways for us!
This event should see an intensive timetable operating with a variety of locomotives throughout each day.
More info of what to look forward to below…
Visiting Locomotive announced!
We are pleased to announce that ‘Sao Domingos’ will be visiting us for our anniversary gala from the Great Bush Railway at Tinkers park! This should see 3 steam locomotives operating at the OKLR for the first time!
O&K No.9998 ‘Elouise‘
This gala event will celebrate the 100th birthday of our O&K locomotive ‘Elouise’ having hit this milestone in May 2022!
Elouise is currently under overhaul but it is hoped to be operational for this event, subject to completion, to celebrate its birthday in style!
MVR No.20 ‘Emmet’
Also in operation will be MVR No.20 ‘Emmet’ which is currently on loan to the OKLR from the Moors Valley Railway (Subject to availability).
Alongside our regular passenger services this event should see a few demonstration freight runs operating each day using our fleet of wonderfully restored wagons. This will offer a rare opportunity to see steam hauled freight on our line!
On Saturday 10th we will continue to operate passenger services into the evening alongside the ‘Steam at Work’ event at the Museum.
At the moment it is unknown if these services will be diesel hauled or steam hauled but they will offer a unique opportunity to ride the full length of the line in the dark!
